ALAMEDA
Christ Episcopal Church in Alameda has launched a new series of public conversations on issues that matter to Alamedans of all ages and faiths.
The inaugural guest lineup features leaders in the arts, technology and civic life. On March 22, “Bean,” Tina Blaine, the executive director of Alameda’s Rhythmix Cultural Works, kicked off the series. Blaine will be followed May 3 by Matthew Ganser, the vice president of business operations for Alameda-based rocket company Astra, and May 24 by Alameda Mayor Marilyn Ezzy Ashcraft. Doors to the two remaining event open at 6 p.m., and the programs will start promptly at 6:30 p.m. Proof of vaccination and booster shots is required. All events are free.
Each event will last about an hour, during which the Rev. Stephen McHale will introduce and ask three questions of each evening’s guest, then turn over the rest of the hour for questions from the in-person and online audiences.
Christ Episcopal Church leaders hope this series will provide a safe and inspiring space for community engagement and respectful dialogue on the unique blessings and challenges of Alameda life. Modeled on similar dialogue series at iconic Episcopal churches such as Grace Cathedral, Trinity Wall Street and the Washington National Cathedral, Christ Episcopal Church’s series is open to all regardless of faith and is meant to amplify the voices of religious and secular Alameda leaders.
